Default Timing Belt - What else should be replaced?

When replacing the timing belt (2007 4Cyl Accord) is it standard practice to replace any of the following:

1. Chain Guides?
2. Tensioner?
3. Crankshaft Seal?
4. Anything else?

Or are they generally just inspected and only replaced if there is obvious wear?

Also, is there any regular interval recommended for replacing the oil pump drive chain? (Is this normally performed with timing belt change?).

Thanks in advance for any reply!

2007 4-cyl has a chain, not a belt. It's not a routine replacement on any kind of schedule. Why are you changing it?

Wait a minute. The car's a 2007. Why do you want to replace all that stuff now? Isn't all that stuff done at like 90k miles?

Default Thanks!

Yes it is a 2007, but I actually have 94k miles on it!!!

Thanks JimBlake. I did not know it was a chain (thanks for catching this in my other post too), I thought it was a belt and that it was recommended to be replaced at 105k. The service manual says "Replace Timing Belt" at 105k so I figured that the 4cyl must have a timing belt. I guess this only applies for the 6cyl which I believe does have a timing belt (not chain). It was hard for me to tell if it was a belt or chain as the service manual pictures showed it drawn both ways in different images.

Anyway, in short, I will not be replacing the timing chain (now that I know it is a chain). Thanks again JimBlake!

Yeah, it seems like the guys who write the owners manuals don't listen to anyone. My 2007 Civic says replace the timing belt at 105k miles, but when you open the oil-fill cap you can SEE the chain.

I think the V-6 still to this day has a belt, so that's a plausible excuse for the Accord book. But my Civic???

I am going to replace my timing belt as well. my mechanic told me there is a type of kit involved with this including the timing belt, water pump, tensioner, and stuff. cant remember quite all of it but while you have all that stuff off it might be best to replace some vital parts if there is some age on it
