problem with most non honda rebuilt transmission is

1. most people really have no clue how to rebuild them
2. the warranty is too short 12mo/12K...kinda useless considering when the problems start to show up in the unit

I talked to a guy that retired a few years ago and he told me that there are too many different variations of this accord trans and they are very hard to get right.......

Up until this year honda was even having troubles with the rebuilds.....
Yeu.. my man a couple of things you should know

# 1 .. the only trannies that Honda rebuilds are the ones under warranty ,, and the warranty they give after that is 1 yr or 12k miles .. that's all..
# 2 ..if a tranny is customer pay, Honda dealerships will get their trannies from an outside source..,,on the west coast from a company in CA.. Honda does not supply them trannies if it is customer pay..,, normal warranty is 1 yr or 12k miles ,, unless you pay more money to extend the warranty longer ,, you can get 3yrs /36k , 5 yrs /50k.. the longer the waranty the more the tranny will cost ..

when I talked to my dealer they said 4500 anad it was 3/36K warranty....... maybe something has changed? (this was jan 06) and that they would be putting in a honda reman unit.....it was too steep for me that is why i went with Kennedy and they have a excellent BBB record (few issues, all resolved)

When I had the alt done on the car they said that was 3/36K as well... I guess they cover some parts differently?

dealer her in new jersey wanted 2500 to do the job. I have to assume that they got a core form some manufaturer like pheonix and swapped the electronics....but u know what mistake i made. my trans mechanic tells me that he would have rebuilt the trans and all electronics for 3000...i have determined that he too would have just swapped out the core...because the he has to make money and the electronics cost me around a grand...anyway reusing electronics isnt the worst thing ud ever do. and the install should not cost more than 700. the trans manufacureer just requires that u have the lines flushed out. that was an extra 45 dollars well worth it for the whole thing to run nice. but i think it was the way to go and although i spent some seriu\os money i got a brand new everthing new trans these places only replace core not all electronics. thats my view if anyone has a diff one please tell.

I bought a used japanese tranny from japanengine.com for less than 600 and i did the install in a day. They are on the west coast at San Leandro, but i thought i heard they opened a shop on the east coast. best bet would be to give them a call. The tranny has been working great. 6,000mi on it and still going strong.
