Default Trans Fluid Leak From New CV Axle

Hey everyone. Needing some help here. I replaced the axles on my 2006 Accord and found the passenger side axle was leaking trans oil. I pulled it and replaced the seal and it's still leaking. I've hit it with a 5 lb soft blow mallet to make sure it was seated properly and it doesn't go in any further. It's got about an 1/8 inch gap from the transfer case to the axle housing (see photos). The seal was installed correctly and seated correctly so I'm running out of ideas any why it's still leaking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is a pretty simple seal and install. Take a look on the other cv joint to measure the gap for a reference. The lock ring on aftermarket CV joints can be spread out too much and prevent the ring from seating in the groove. If the CV joint isn't seated, some grease on that ring or maybe use a hose clamp to close it a bit to seat properly?

The other item to consider is if the surface of the transmission where the outside of the seal seats has a scratch or gouge from removing the old seal?
