Trans problem 94 accord manual. Help appreciated
I have a 94 Accord 5 speed and heres whats its doing. I need to diagnose what it is. I thought it was the timing belt and had that replaced but its doing the same thing. Basically when I shift to the next gear, it runs at a real high RPM for a few seconds before the gear kicks in. Its like theres no power to get it going and its trying to catch up. Could this possibly be the clutch? The clutch is only about 5 years old so im thinking its the trans. Thanks alot...

Its hard to tell from the way you described it, but if the clutch is fully engaged and the RPMs rise like that I am guessing the clutch is slipping. Go to a really steep hill and try starting from a stop.

Sounds like its time to do the clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing. Be check tolerances on the flywheel and resurface as needed. Do you smell burnt clutch when it does this? Does it slip at cruising speed? I.e. higher rpm at say 50-60mph?
