Transmission doesn't downshift when stopping
I have a 2002 4 cylinder automatic Accord with only 22,000 miles. The car will not down shift fast enough when coming to a stop. Other cars I have when coming to a stop downshifts into first by the time I come to a stop. Not this car, I literaly have to wait for it to down shift into first before taking off from a dead stop. If I don't give the car enough time, say a rolling stop, when I push the gas pedal the transmission revs and nothing happens, then it changes into 1st and spins the wheels, not good for the transmission. I have done the flush per Honda instructions but it doesn't realy help. The D light does not blink and there are no CEL lights. It does it all the time, hot or cold. Sometimes it shifts so violently, it feels like someone has run into the car from behind.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

The car belonged to a great aunt that barely drove it. It had only 14,000 miles on it when I got it last March. I flushed and changed the transmission fluid as soon as I got it home in March per the Honda dealer. She kept all service records and always took it to Honda dealer whenever they sent her a letter for service. She changed the oil every 3,000 and had some other things done. It has the Honda fluid in it.
Thanks

On earlier model there were some trans codes that did not set the D4 or CEL off. I don't know about your model, but it's possible to check for trans codes by shorting the service check connector. If there's a code, it will be flashed on the D4 light.
