Default Transmission Fluid help

I have a 2005 Honda Accord LX SE Coupe, Automatic.

I went to Honda and they have a ATF DW-1 Genuine oil for $7.97 (1 quart). They said I need 3 quarts. Also they said I need 2 crushers, top and bottom which is about $2 each.

Should I buy this or buy Generic from another store?

Also, there is a oil change shop that will change it for me for $20 if I bring my own parts.

Any suggestions?

Use the Honda stuff. Honda transmissions are temperamental with their fluid.

You will have to call around to see what a place would charge to do that.

Get the Honda ATF DW-1. I used this on my 2009 Accord and my nephew's 1995 Accord. Both cars shifted very smoothly afterward, mixed with the Honda Z-1 that still left in there.

You just need the one crush washer for the drain plug. For the AT transmission for the 4 cylinder, you fill the fluid through the oil filler tube where the dipstick is.

$20 is very reasonable for the labor.

Also, buy the 3 quarts for the drain and fill. I usually put 2.5 quarts in first, then recheck the fluid left when the car is at normal operating temperature and add if necessary.

Well it would be about $25 to buy the ATF 3 bottles and a place that will do it for me is $20.

If Honda does the parts and labor then its $74.95.

So 3 quarts is perfect?

I bought this car at 40K and now I am at 86,650. This will be the first time I am changing transmission fluid. Last year, I checked and the color was not black but not is is black. If I change it this week, will I be ok with no damage? I am not even sure when the last owner changed the oil.

Well if you are not sure about if it was changed, you can do one drain and fill. Then about a week or two later do a second drain and fill.

What do you mean? What is one drain? I thought you drain all oil?
