I checked my car again for this sound and noticed this sound isn't coming from the engine compartment or front. It is either coming from the middle or the back of the vehicle.

probably has to do with your exhaust. Maybe the cat is coming apart. Most of the time you'll only hear problems like that under load.

Then it is probably not the trans. Can you take off a rear wheel and look at the brakes to see if the wear indicator is rubbing? Or ike was said above, it could be the exhaust either rattling, or the CAT could be screwing up. but if it was the CAT, I would be willing to bet your check engine light would be on, or would be coming on in the near future. The CAT can sound like that when it is bad though.

We were also thinking it could be the Catalytic Converter. Hopefully its just a lose screw or something.

I don't have the tools to take the tire off and look, except the tools for putting on the spare and that’s a hassle. I just wanted to get an idea of what could be wrong. Many people seem to think this could be the problem but I find this hard to believe since I just had the rear brakes repaired last year. A new master cylinder, new brake pads, etc were required to get the brakes working again in the rear. I will see what the mechanic says and if he has problems finding the issue I will mention what you guys told me. Thanks.

In your opinion are these problems expensive to fix? A few hundred dollars is ok but once it gets past $500 its going to **** me off. Trade in value on this car is only like $2000-$2500 I don't really want to put a large amount of money into this car anymore.

If it needs a new CAT it will be more than $500

Would that be new or from a junker?

New. Many states won't allow junkyards to sell used cats

I never heard of anything like that. Are they worried a used CAT wouldn't filter emissions as well as a new one?

I just wanted you to update you guys. Tried a few times to get on this website over the past 2 weeks but the website was down or something. Took it to the mechanic and he discovered the problem, an issue with the exhaust system. I don't remember the specifics but a part of the exhaust system has a pipe in a pipe (Plus heard something related to the heat shield) and part of it was rusted which caused that sound. Got the problem fixed in an hour for a grand total of $25. Thanks again for the help.
