My wife's car (Accord) has 120k on it. She was driving down the road and said the car would not go over 60mph and when she pressed the gas the rpms would go up but the car was slowing down. Sounds like the transmission woudn't shift to the next gear (it's an automatic).

After pulling over, the dip stick was pulled and there was no fluid on it. The dip stick was smoking hot. Appeared to be fluid all over the bottom of the car.

The car is at the dealer now. Just trying to prepare myself what to expect. I have heard of instances where Honda replaced them even though they were out of warranty due to a know problem.

This stuff ALWAYS happens at the worst time, I swear.

 

The first thing you will have to figure out is why all the fluid leaked out.

Maybe you will be lucky and the fixing the leak and refilling the transmission fluid will be all that is needed. If the transmission is shot, then the repair bill will be expensive.

 

Found out it needs a new transmission. Not sure of the price yet but roughly $3500 is what I was told.
