Default Trying to help out family member

I just moved from GA to CO and when I get here a family member asks me to help them with a car they just bought. 1999 Honda Accord 2.3 Vtec UNK miles. bought used from used car lot. Car was getting oil in radiator they took it back to "dealer" and they fixed it producing documentation saying they did head gasket, shaved head and TB & WP. The car was dropped of to me and when it left its home it was full of oil and 30 min later it is (I guess) 2qts low and the engine bay looks like the bay was sprayed down with choc milk. I am at a crossroads. I want to help but my tools are being shipped and my space is limited. So I have a computer and the ability. Do I start with a comp test, HG job or go to a junkyard and get a 2.3 VTEC and swap it out.

I have looked through this forum and have not crossed much mention of the oil in radiator, is this a problem with the 2.3 vtec motor in the gen 6 accords or just a fluk.

Thanks
Geoff

Try to find the source of the leak.

Oil in the coolant is a sign of head gasket problem. It could be left over from the first head gasket failure. Do you trust that the used car lot actually did the work?

I would do a compression test to see if the cylinders are sealing. A leakdown test would give you some more information.

Do your best to diagnose the problem before making a decision.
