White smoke sounds like a headgasket problem. Check your coolant - in the radiator not just in the overflow bottle.

Check your oil too, if it's milky or frothy, it's getting coolant in it, another sure sign of a bad head gasket.

Turbo? You never said anything about turbo. What do you really have? Is this a diesel?

OK, I should have realized when you said "55-plate" because that's a British thing, right?

Still, the suggestions about headgasket & other things to check should still apply. When you said turbo, the first thing that crossed my mind is you added a turbo to an engine that didn't have one from the factory.

Diesels have higher combustion pressures, so they put more stress on the headgasket. Although it should be designed for that, you need to check out all those things because it sounds like it could be a blown headgasket.

However, the turbo throws another source into the mix. Blown seals in the spool can put oil and/or coolant into the exhaust line.

You could try a compression test and/or a leakdown test to rule out headgasket, leaving the turbo spool as the likely suspect.

I'm gonna change the title of the thread so maybe it'll attract attention from UK people.

Honda never sold the diesel engines AT ALL in the USA. Besides you probably don't want to ship the car over here for repair anyway. I've been to England, but I had a hire car so I never had to look for a repair shop.

It's probably good that it's the turbo; I think that would be cheaper than a headgasket anyway.
