First I'd go back someplace to read the error codes, but get the actual code numbers. Not some conversational description.

Place like Midas may or may not know Hondas well enough to CORRECTLY interpret the code, but if you had told us the number maybe we could help.

A chain auto parts store will read the code(s) for free.

You might consider finding an independent Honda repair shop to diagnose the problem and quote the repair. Name brands shops have pretty high overhead.

Yeah, nearly all those places can read the code, but usually they don't tell you the actual code number (like P0123) they just want to say "you need to buy a xxxx".

It seems like every time I visit the local Advance Auto one of the counter people is out in the parking lot reading codes. Their code reader has a printer and they just print out the code(s) and give it to the customer. Must be a part-of-the-country thing. The Autozones and O'Reilly's around here give the actual codes too.

Last time I had that done, they didn't volunteer the code, but when I asked they didn't hesitate to tell me.
