Unusual Transmission Question
I realize that I am driving a 21 year old car with the original transmission no doubt so I certainly don't expect a flawless experience when it comes to the transmission but I've never quite encountered a tranny like this.
It's a 91 Accord Wagon with an Auto tranny. She starts off fine with a noticeable change in gears from first to second. Its not a hard shift really but its not quite as flawless as it could be. Is this a sign that the tranny is going out or is this normal?
Second question. While driving in 3rd or 4th gear I find that I can shift gears by simply taking my foot off the gas for a second and it shifts to the higher gear. For examples lets say I'm driving along at 35MPH in 3rd gear and if I remove my foot off the gas for a second it shifts into 4th even though it seems too soon. Its hard to explain but I hope someone out there knows what I'm talking about.
oh and one last question. What is the normal RPM for going 70-75MPH? Mine reads at 3K and I feel that it should be closer to 2500RPM but then again I'm used to driving 6 cylinder engines.
Thanks in advance!

I would probably do a drain and refill on the transmission using Honda ATF.
The other thing you may want to try is adjusting the cable that goes from the throttle body to the transmission to pick up most of the slack.
Does the check engine light turn on while driving? Or does the D4 light start flashing (or maybe the S light on your accord)?

The check engine light came on only once last week while I was driving and after I stopped and let the engine rest for a minute it went away. Really freaked me out because I'm taking it to get a smog test done tomorrow!
