URGENT: Stuck Axle Nut

Yes, a piece of pipe over the breaker bar and then put you weight on the end of the pipe. There are some video's out there showing this method.

I replaced both axles in my 97 Accord about 5 years ago. One axle nut came off, but the other would not budge even with a 1/2 drive breaker bar and piece of pipe for more leverage.

I ended up cutting the nut off with an angle grinder and cutting wheel.

Since I was replacing both axles, it seemed the best way to go for me.

Is it safe to re-use the old axle nut?

Yes you will be fine, be sure to stake the nut once you get it back on and tightened downed.

Often I take a socket and car to a hole-in-the-wall local tire place and let them use their air gun to remove the nut and re-tighten to 180ft-lbs. From there I replace my axle. I have broken many breaker bars with a 4-foot pipe many of times.
