Very Odd Behaviour on a 1995 A/T Tranny
Hello Accord People! First time for me here!
I just got a ī95 A/T Accord as a gift from a friend who claims he just rebuilt the tranny a couple days ago but it didn't work well after that. The previous issue with the tranny was that after a few miles of driving, the tranny just acted like in neutral, and if he turned the car off, waited a couple minutes, roughly 10-15 mins and started it again, it just worked well for a couple extra miles and so on. (Could the problem be the A/T filter clogging up with clutch material thus no sufficient enough fluid could flow thru?) So he decided to rebuild the tranny.
Well, the story now is, if I try to drive the car in D4 position (D4 light in the dash doesn't work by the way, unlike all others), it feels like it starts to drive in 1st gear, but it doesn't shift to 2nd gear, but if move the shift **** to 2nd it shifts to 2nd! But thatīs all, no shift to D3 or D4 when I move the **** back to those positions. Now If I drive the car from the first gear and shift it manually to 2nd, it works, but it doesn't shift to D3 or D4
I tested the TC and Shift Solenoids and they all show 15-17 Ohms so they're ok right?
The ATF looks and smell very good to me, red and shiny new I could say.
The TCU and the ECU are in excellent shape as far as I can see, no signs of damage or burnt resistors nor caps.
I've tried to adjust the kickdown cable in many positions, no difference at all. It Just doesn't shift properly
So, what do you guys think? Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi PAhonda! Itīs a 4-cylinder
Quick update: I managed to fix the D4 light, well I just swapped the 1 and D4 bulbs, and now when I turn the ignition switch on the D4 light starts to flash intermittently.
Gonna look for TCU codes tomorrow!

Quick update: So I got a code 8 (Shift solenoid B, afaik), tested impedance in both A and B solenoids and I read 16.7 - 16.8 Ohms, tried 12V in them so I could see wether they actuate or not. Solenoid A was ok, while I could barely hear or feel Solenoid B actuate when put voltage on it. So I took them out and tested them again. Same behaviour...
So I “Serviced“ them (Make em actuate rapidly while pressing air trough the tiny holes on the Solenoids and pouring a drop of WD 40), and Voilá, They now sound and feel OK.
Plugged everything back, D4 light worked normally again, then I thought I had found the culprit and fixed, I was happy! Took the car for a ride... And Guess what?... Same Freaking thing! OMG.
Gonna replace the VSS, despite D4 light isn't showing a code for that tho.
Iīll let y'all know how it goes...

Speedometer doesn't work but this wasn't a problem for the transmission to shift in every gear prior to its rebuild. My Accord Doesn't have cruise control, itīs a 1995 LX.
Yes, the solenoid actuate when I apply voltage.
Removing transmission for inspection in 3,2,1...
