Roader - I didn't notice the top end loss before I put in the P0H but then again I never pushed it that hard with the P0J ecu in. I haven't gone to autozone to check for codes yet.
jkowtko - I haven't really tested this before but I can try. Do you mean to drive in like D1 or 2 and try?

Yes, just to confirm if the engine will rev above 4500 and still have power up there.

Sorry, I wasn't clear: Did the car ever run well at high RPMs after you installed the P0H? You indicated in a previous thread that it did. When I ran my F23 swap with a P0J it just ran out of breath anywhere above 3500 - 4000 RPM, much like your video. Installing the P0H was like flipping a lightswitch: lots of top end power.

You say the VTEC is engaging but what leads you to that conclusion? Your video might indicate that VTEC is not functioning. And since the shop that did the swap had to wire the VTEC solenoid to the ECU, it would be where I'd check first.

Get those codes checked at Autozone or check them yourself with a paperclip. That would be the first step in diagnosing the problem.

At lower gears it runs well at top end. But it wasn't until I got onto the highway and floored it to find myself going nowhere. I just drove through D1-3 and it ran very strong. Apparently it's only when I'm in fourth and I drop gears that it does this. I also went to autozone and there are no engine codes. I DID however realize that I never resolved my stiff throttle issue. I made a video:

And about the VTEC engaging. I KNOW for a fact that it is. It usually kicks in between 2-3000rpms WOT. I can feel it, I can see the rpms move faster, and I can hear it scream!!! Ok not scream but you get what I mean lol.

I'm not sure what you're trying to show in the throttle cable video.

So, if you put the car in D3, drive it on the highway, and goose the gas it will run normally? Lots of power? It won't hurt to run the car at highway speeds in D3 for awhile. Then move the selector into D4, cruise, and goose the gas. Does it downshift into third gear?

My throttle cable is very tight to pull. The gas pedal is really hard to depress. I'll give your example a try today.

Maybe you have a physical obstruction on the cable somewhere. Can you open up the throttle body easily from inside the engine compartment?

Anecdote -- Ages ago a neighbor's VW bug just didn't have a lot of engine power. It would accelerate okay up to maybe 50mph and then just wouldn't go any faster. Eventually (after a couple of years) he had a mechanic take a look at it, and it turns out the cable assembly was being blocked by something under the accelerator pedal. Fixed it, and the car suddenly had tons of power and a much higher top speed.

I'm not saying you have the same problem, but ...

I had a 2.2L vtec and never felt it kick in. What is the OEM part number on your ECU?

It's kicking in. I have no reason to believe that it's not. Unless there's a totally random gain in power in the 2-3000rpms band, or I'm crazy.
