I don't suppose that the $135 denso on ebay is too great .. right?
The parts stores have all kinds of brands and 200 to 400 bucks ... so is there any known good for our cars?
You know, like, buy NGK plugs as an
example

Actually, if I had to go with one it would be the "denso" unit

My choice over aftermarket, is a used compressor. Ebay or car-part.com can guide you to a good unit.

I've had bad experiences w/ rebuilds (leaking body). A few years back, 4 Seasons nickname was "4 Seizings". They may have cleaned up their act by now.

good luck

Yes, I should have been clear.....a NEW Denso unit would be my first choice.

A "reman" on a part like this is just too risky.....time and labor for a failed replacement unit is not worth it.

Having been in the "automotive aftermarket" for ~30 years you can see this trend towards new......I use to sell reman clutches, today you could not give a reman clutch to anyone.

When the tooling is there, the cost of a new unit is not much more than a reman unit....the reman units start to become obsolete....yes the last ~22 years I've been in Inventory Management so knowing and seeing the trend towards new is key to "getting out of" reman.

Sorry for the rant

Cheap overseas new parts have driven down both used and reman prices.

However too many corners may be cut w/ "reman" parts. A few years back I went to a shop here in Houston that "remanned" CV axles. They replaced boots and grease and nothing else. A total of 2-5 mins per axle.

good luck

Theres probably a denso tag on the compressor the denso units on ebay may be exactly the same as what you have.

If it were me Id probably get one from a junk yard and put it in and hope for the best. But I live in Maine its easy to survive without A/C. You might consider a new vs rebuild unit as others have mentioned.
