Replacement Aircon compressors

The bearings have gone in the aircon compressor on my year 2000, RWD Accord Coupe 2.0i ES mk5 VTEC; UK version of 'US built' Accord EX model.
The aircon is gubbed, and my car undrivable until it is removed.
As this is the US built Accord, though an offical UK model, finding a suitable 'donor' replacement from a UK breaker is as rare as hen's teeth.
A few questions;
Does the aircon compressor unit from the equivilent UK 'Swindon built' Accord Saloon 2.0i work as a replacement, as it would be easier to find a 'breaking' donor. Likewise does the unit from a Prelude of the same era work (just as rare but it at least double my options).
it may
Is anyone aware of companies in UK which refurb these units?

Only bearing is located in the AC clutch assembly. This bearing would be replaceable w/ a new clutch, or by removing/replacing the bearing. It is possible to remove the clutch assembly w/o discharging the AC.
Try turning the inner part of the clutch assy (plate) by hand. It should rotate easily w/ slight resistance from compression of gas. If it's stuck or you feel grinding resistance, the compressor pistons are siezing, and indeed you need a new compressor.
I have no idea about your different UK models. Have you tried salvage yards for used compressors? They may be able to tell you which cars are donors to yours.
good luck

Take pictures of your compressor, to compare against compressors in the breakers. Check the locations of the high & low tubing connections, wiring connection, etc. If the compressor is NOT compatible, it's likely that it will be visibly different.
And maybe you can pull the AC clutch assembly off a breaker car...?
