Default What should my clutch repair cost?

hey guys, got a 2001 4 cyl, 5 speed, 239,000 miles. Clutch cable just went this morning, at least I'm assuming that's the problem, got into first, went to shift to second and the clutch pedal hit the floor and never recovered, there were no survivors.

I'm assuming just the clutch cable replaced and I'm good. Normally I'd try to do it myself but I just don't have the facilities to do it.

What ballpark figure should I look for the replacement? I go to a reputable mechanic, they've treated me pretty decent in the past, at least I think.

Your 2001 uses a hydraulic clutch, not a cable. You will likely need a new slave cylinder...It is found on the left side on the transmission housing. Also check the clutch fluid reservoir and top it off with fluid. It is located at the driver's side of the firewall next to the brake booster. You may need to bleed the air out of the line. This acts much the same as a brake master cylinder does. Costwise...Aftermarket slave cylinder is about $35...Unsure of the clutch master cylinder cost...Around $250 labor I would guess. Adler is the OEM brand used on your car.
