Default would this help ?

hey whats goin on guy's i have a 96 accord ex 5speed my question is that i heard from one of the tech's at my local honda dealer that if i wanted a llitle more power i should find a prelude with an h22 from the junk yard and i could use its throttle body and headers he sais that this would be a preatty cheap mod for my car and gain a few horse power mybe you guy's could set me in the right pat as to if this mod would work or what other parts from other hondas at my local junk yard could i use if any. I also heard that port matching is good for a few more pony's is this true and if so what parts would you port thanks if you guy's could help

A throttle body would help, but not very much without other work done to the car. The prelude headers are 4-2-1, so if they'll bolt up that will be good for some power. I would probably go for a set of aftermarket ones myself, just for the nice look under the hood.

I think a short ram intake would be the best mod for you if you are looking for a little bit more power/sound without spending a whole lot. The headers would help too, but to get the full effect, you'd need at least a new muffler (and to get the most a cat back exhaust).

From what I've seen the intake manifold from the H22 has a intake bypass valve (part of the intake manifold) controlled by solenid that's not on the your engine and would take some modifications to get to work. Without the bypass valve you might as well stay with what you have. A better suggestion would be to swap over a complete H22, which is possible. Ebay has been selling complete enignes for as low as 350.00 + freight. Just swap the computer and few other little things and you'll some major power increases.

Just a Thought

or just swap up the H22/23 head and have fun with that...it is an easy 20HP gain but more importantly, it is nice gain in torque.
