the answer to that would be a doubtful i cant tell but i think that piece is intended as a funnel going down into there but that still only an inch to an inch and a half hole going into the air baffle which goes into the filter box. in the end, your typical stock intake. If you want an increase in hp and a change in sound just buy the 30 dollar ebay shortram and filter combo, you will notice a difference from that.

I remember the night I put on my AEM V2 intake. Man, what a difference.

any 3 inch pipe with a k&n cone = power increase, its just that v2 costs money and the cost ratio doesnt justify it in my opinion

I had a V2 on my prior vehicle and would agree it was nice but as was mentioned I can't justify the cost of it for the 2-3 HP difference over a cheap short ram... this was just something temporarily until I get it and I found it amusing, considering with that piece in place the opening is right on top of the battery and I couldn't imagine it has the greatest airflow from there....

if you want a good intake just go to ebay and type in front mount intake for an accord and you will find something like a intercooler looking intake. i have one and i can tell a big difference then when i just used to have a short ram. and there not very expensive. i bought mine for about 130 bucks. give that a try and i think if you get one you will be happy with it. and if your not vtec it will sound like you are. kinda funny when just playing around.

Hey guys,
That funnel actually does keep your battery cooler. I was just looking in the manual b/c I put an sir and it says its the battery cooling funnel. I mean it makes sense, batteries get hot, specially in 4 cyl. and they dont perform as well when they are super hot. And its pointing directly at the battery. take a look

batteries dont really get that hot, and that piece that goes into the baffle box doesnt keep the battery cooler, it just funnels the air into the intake. It might flow a little air by the battery, but in the end, those dont get that hot, its the piece of plastic behind the battery thats acting as a heat shield against the engine, not the intake.
