Default Accord EX 1996 - questions about Mid-pipe replacement

Hi,

I have a Honda Accord 1996, EX 4 door
I need to replace the Mid-pipe but i checked online and there are 2 types of mid pipe.
One that had a resonator and another with the resonator and a piece that had a steel mesh.

My questions :
1 - What is that meshed section ??
2 - Do I need it that meshed section ??
3- Do i need a resonator since I already have muffler ???? I checked what a resonator does, it is the same thing as a muffler .

4- Related to question 3), can i just replace with only pipes and no resonator ???
5- My garage quote me 230$ to change the mid-pipe, the mid pipe only cost 160 $, is that fair price ???

Thanks

1. The mesh gives the pipe a flex point.
2. I would.
3. If you don't mind the change in sound of the car.
4. As stated
5. All depends...warranty, are you willing to do the work, ect.
