I posted this on another Honda forum and thought it might be of interest here.

This morning I remebered that I had a Cold Air Intake from the '03 Corolla I traded in. As I slurped my coffee I wondered if I could turn it into a short ram for the Accord.....HMMMM??!!

A little ingenuity and a sharp hacksaw blade resulted in the photo below. I have several more but can't seem to post them. It was going to be a start to finish type of thing but I suppose they just suck up too much space. Crapolla!!!!!!!

The result behind the wheel far exceeded my expectations.
It's quiet until you tip into the throttle about 50% then it sounds
SWEET! The Corolla sounded ricey but this does not.

Throttle response is much better and as of this morning I have torque steer in 1st when I stand on it, and can get 2nd & 3rd gear scratch at will. It simply screams to redline and gets there much quicker than before.

WOWZERS Batman! I am really pleased. The filter looks rough from the Toyota installation but it works just fine.

I left the bottom of the original air box on for a couple of reasons:

First off, if the local inspection station doesn't buy the CARB sticker that I reglued, I can change it all back to stock in a few minutes. Second, it cushions the filter and it will still draw a bit of outside air through the box.

In the photo I reversed the plastic piece atop the tubular air intake that leads to the box (battery hold down on left), then to the cone filter. The opening used to face the rear now it faces the front. My idea is that it will have a small ram air effect while underway forcing a bit of outside air through the tube to the filter so it won't have to draw 100% underhood air.

Here's the concoction I put together for the final installation. Due to the smaller size of the pipe, the piece of rubber on the end was necessary in order to fit snugly inside the stock piece leading to the throttle body. In fact it was so snug I had to spray it with some Pam to get it to fit!

Kool...how much HP/Torque you think you got outta it?

 

Intakes alone don't add much power to small N/A engines.

Nice job though.

 

Thats the way to do it; initiative is a good thing
