AEM vs injen SRI
I have the AEM shorty and have zero complaints. The filter they use is more efficientat cleaning & flowthan others (according to them) and does not require special spray cleaner or oiling. Wash it, (I use AEM cleaner) dry it, put it back on.Super easy install and is CARB approved. It is also less expensive than other name brands and available in colors or silver. What more could you ask for?

the ebay cai will be 1/3 the cost of an injen/aem sri that's for sure.. your cost considerations should probably be evaluated with real world applications and research.
the only concern related to the two you should have is whether it has a MAF support or not, and whether your car even HAS a MAF. I see falkore saying you're from Cali, but I'm not sure how he deduced that except your mention of the smog test, which I guess is generally a CARB requirement?
as for the hydrolock, it's almost unheard of unless you have poor luck or poor driving skills.
the difference is going to be mostly what the guys said about the location of the filter with the SRIs; and it seems that it's coming down to personal preference.
which looks better to you?

who says the aem isn't great? its cheaper then injen, and pretty much same performance, you're going to need the name brand tube anyways, since you live in cali, and as far as filters, you can get the k&n filter, or i've heard the apexi ones are good to,

Ya that is true . I will stick with AEM .
so i drove home today for two hours in horrible *** traffic in some heavy heavy heavy rain.. had to go through quite the puddles to cross roads!!!
i was so nervous when i got home i looked and felt the filter and it was dry as a bone.. even with my lowered suspension it didn't get the least bit wet, when i was almost certain it should have gotten SOMEthing wet in there, the entire area was dry.
