Default CAI? brand name or ebay?

Hey everyone,
Im new here and just got a 2000 accord SE (4cyl)

I want to do some light mods and I was told a CAI would be my best bet, then a strut bar, then header.

Anyways, I was looking around on ebay for something sub-100 and noticed lots of cheap CAI
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-02...QQcmdZViewItem

I tried looking for something brand name, and I found an OBX one for $85 shipped (doesnt include a bypass valve)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/COLD-...QQcmdZViewItem

I also saw some SRIs like the AEM that were about $150, but thats a little more than I want to spend.

any suggestions?
it doesnt rain here often or snow (sf bay area) so im not sure if a bypass valve is neccessary.
let me know,
thanks

ultimately youre just getting a metal tube thats going to the front bumper, this has been argued many of times whether brand names are better then generic, imo brand name intakes arent worth the extra money, i put my CAI for about 80 with a k&n filter unless you find a great deal on a k&n that will cost 50 to 60 shipped

you will notice gains just about any way you do it, you just want a 2 1/2inch+ diameter, most you should find are 3inch

yeah, the piping looks about right, k&n has always been a good solid filter to get, tho thats not the one that i would prefer

and now... i have decided they have waaaaaay too many filters.....
http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=RU-3580is kinda like the one i have, the only difference with mine its on the top of that one in the link, mine is sunk in about an inch & 1/2 and it has filter on the inner part to allow air to come in the center as well

but with the link you gave that will work as well

I think the route Ill go with is just buy a generic ebay CAI
one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-02...spagenameZWDVW
or
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-02...spagenameZWDVW

and just buy a seperate quality filter for it.
any other filters worth looking at other than k & n? how about aem dry flow?

also: what measurements should i be looking for on the filter?

yeah, ive heard good things about the dry flow tho its not a filter that ive used, but its still one that needs to be cleaned, you just want to be sure to find a place that sells the cleaner for it

but yeah, all i can really say in the end is you just want a pipe that wont rust, usually thats not an issue

thanks for all the info.
before I order, do you know what kind of filter will fit the intake? is it 3.5inch? or are they all different?

thanks

3inch thats the average for what ive seen, but you can measure the pipe when you get it in, not like couple days will make that big of a difference for installing it

I would go with the AEM dryflow filter. That is the one I have, and with a cai it would be a bigger pain to reoil that. Plus, with my AEM intake it wont void any warranty, so idk if that would apply just to a filter as well. But yeah, no oil is needed, and AEM is stopping production of their oil filters and using dryflow for everything. You just need to clean it every 15,000 to 20,000 miles. I need to clean mine in a few thousand...I will have to see how ti goes! Oh, and the cleanign kit costs like $12

you also have to consider carb exempt. do you live in california?? if you do you have to buy an intake that is carb exempt.. so that ebay ones wont work. but if you dont live there.. then go for it with the ebay intake and the k&n filter...
