Default CAI and Exhaust question.

My wife owns a 2006 Accord V6 Coupe, and she wants a few things done to her car. She'd like a little better throttle response and a bit more pick up.

Currently, when you stomp on the accelerator, is takes a second for the engine to figure out what to do. I had the same problem in a 2000 Mustang I owned, and fixed it by buying a CAI and Throttle body. She'd also like the car to sound better, with a little more bass to the exhaust.

My main question about the exhaust, is if I do a DIY setup, what's the best muffler/highflow cat combo to use from the header back? The only exhaust brands I know of are for domestic cars/trucks, since that's all I've ever owned.

For CAI, I know of a few brands, but they're all pretty much the same anyway, appearance is the only difference.

id go with either K&N or Injen or Fujita for the intake. Also, Magnaflow makes a great product for the accords...very low and deep....heres a video.

unfortunately that's how Accords are... the CAI would help once you're above 2500rpm, but for low end torque you'll need a new header... probably more work than it's worth, and not much performance increase...

There's a thread (can't remember if it's this forum or another) showing a TSX (I think it was) header being used on an accord, and he didn't really get any insane results.. I'm sure the butt-o-meter detected some change, but, are we talking 5hp? 10hp? for $300+?

Just so you know, aftermarket intakes make their power based on the filter, NOT the piping. You can go on ebay and buy a cheap ebay CAI pipe and then just go and buy a separate filter from K&N, AEM, etc and save yourself a good chunk of change.
As for a header making you low end torque, i'm not sure about that. Aftermarket headers are supposed to increase exhaust flow just like a an aftermarket cat back would. By reducing restriction and increasing flow, power is noticed in the top end.
