Default exhaust/muffler suggestions.....

I am looking into getting a muffler or exhaust system on my 1996 accord lxand would fist like to know why an entire catback system is so much more than just a muffler and if it really is worth the extra money. Sorry, I'm anewb at this car modding thing. Ive looked into the greddy evo II and the apexi wsIImuffler and exhaust. I have also looked into the universal apexi n1 muffler. What is the difference between these mufflers/exhaust systems and which one will give me the biggest bang for the buck without being excessively loud and annoying? Any help would be appreciated.

I have the Universal apexi n1 muffler and got custom piping from my cat to the back. And it's real loud, wakes up the neighborhood. However, the Apexi WS2 is quite the contrary. Look it up on youtube and it sounds great, I really should have gotten that instead.

Someone earlier here said he got th eGreddy Evo2 exhaust and said it was unexpectedly loud. I think it may be a few forums down only, and ask the guy specifically how it is, or if he could take a clip.

WS2 is where it's at.

Some people don't like it though...because it's a chambered design (so air isnt rushing through like in the n1). It's still a performance gain...nonetheless.

He wanted to know why people go for the whole cat-back instead of just a muffler, and what's the difference. From my experience, having just the muffler with the stock piping gives you that cheaper sound, and of course, doesnt really improve the flow of the exhaust, therefore giving you no real power gains. A cat-back provides a richer, and much better sound (depending on what you get) than just a muffler, and you gain a little bit of horsepower. Save up the money, do it right, get a cat-back if you're gonna be "modding." Hope that helped.
