Default filter box?

my 96' accord ex 4cyl F22B1 has this small black square filter box right underneath the stock air intake hose close to the air filter box.the hose is connected to it from the bottom part and i want to replace my intake with a short ram.what is that filter box for and how do i disable that? apparently it has a wire connector plug to something.

In regards to the bottom of the filter box going into the wheel well, there should be no wires attached under there, all that is, is an air baffling box in the wheel well, but you may have a coolant system running through part of your intake, but I dont know if that is part of your intake system

i dont think he meant the big box in the wheel well, it the intake control solenoid thing if im not mistaken, if it the right one, you can juss leave it alone, all that does is redude the air noise from the stock intake
