need idea for headers
i got a 99 2.3 automatic 4cyl ex. i have an ebay intake system, which i am thinking about getting rid of because it makes my car sound like an air boat. but im looking for low end torque mainly. i also have a friend that told me to go with the 4:2:1 headers and then go to get an exhaust to match it. im not looking to spend a **** load, just looking for ideas. thanks

exhaust will free up airflow but won't give you much power...intake is probably your quickest easiest way to get a few horses. but maybe pick up a set of ebay headers..might need to "fit" them a little but alot of people go with those.

ok, so i dont know too much, but all i do know is that my car is a single overhead cam, so did u mean to get an upgraded cam? or something? is it a mod, or is it just tuning it up or cleaning it up to make it run better?

you can get a CAm re-grind. It will yield more power than your exhaust will. A cam shaft is what pushes the valves open and closed in the engine head. You can get diff. types of re-grinds. With more lift the cam your allowing more air and fuel in each cyl and allowing it to escape faster 2. Depending on what re-grind you go with you might need to upgrade your valve train and get your ECU tuned for the cam upgrade. To get the full potential out of your upgrade.

also im a newb when it comes to this stuff, so would i have to purchase a cam regrind or would i send my cam to get regrinded? if that makes any since... also is it easy to do.... and then how would i go about tuning the engine to it?

Everyone started out as a newbie, don't feel bad.
Place that grinds the cam for you, they will have to tell you whether they have one for exchange, or whether you need to send yours in & wait for it.
Then you'll want to give the car to a tuning shop so they can re-program your fuel & spark maps.
But you're absolutely right, you gotta deal with broken stuff first, & save up for the fun stuff.

about how much would that cost? it turns out that all the problems i had were just loose bolts from when me and a buddy replaced the engine and just rushed through it and didnt tighten things down enough. that and my cat is bad which ill fix when i buy my new exhaust soon
