I don't think a saw would be beneficial to remove a large plastic box.

I don't understand how you would get a sawzall intol the hole in the engine compartment let alone reach the bolts or anything without removing the splash shield and/or bumper. Maybe the 6th gens are different...

you can get under it by pulling back the lower shield that is connected to the wheel well ..... with the shield out of the way, there is a lot of room, but the bumper isn't too bad to just take off and put on .... it's something like 8 clips and 2 screws

That's the shield I was talking about. It's easy enough to remove the platic plugs and the shield is flexible enough to pull it back and remove the 3 bolts and jimmy the resonator out of there.

it took like 15 min to get the bumper off my ride, and made the job 100000x easier.. i don't think it was possible any other way on my ride or it'd still be sitting in there..

i agree with the sawz-all; don'tr know how that'd work on mine, but i have a 7th gen

"Yes, I took my resonator out without removing the bumper. The trick is to pull back the splash shield under it and pull it down. About the black box, is it that little black box attached to the bottom of the stock intake tube/plenum?" Yes it is that little black box finch

You should be fine to remove the box, I don't think there are any hose or sensors connected to it. I believe it has something to do with the airflow through the tube.
