i have a SRI that will one day become a CAI but i was wonderin does the size of the pipe matter for performance??...like i have a pretty huge pipe....and it sounds quite nice..but when i look at other peoples CAI's the piple looks about an inch and a half

It depends on the manufacturer alot, and you do in fact get better performance from a pipe that has a 4" diameter as oppose to 3".

A standard filter from AEM or K&N,just to name a few, should be fine.
even if the your pipe is a smaller than other peoples, its not that big of a difference if any at all.

But this does.

actually im sayin my pipe is larger than others....and for some reason my SRI is longer than normal SRIs but shorter than a CAI....so...how does that work?.do i still get the benefits of a SRI or shud i jus call it a CAI??...or is it just a long SRI period?...note: my pipe is like 3 to 4 inches wide

Is your pipe at the bottom of your bumper?

If not,you no doubt have a SRI.
