I have a 96 accord Im going to put an intake in it and I was thinking of a SRI, does the brand matter or does just the filter matter? and if brand does matter what SRI would you guys reccomend I get. Im planning on changing my headers and downpipe but im probably not gonna change them until the end of the summer. What would you guy recommend for those? and how much could I expect to gain, I am gonna change my exhaust too but thats gonna wait until next summer or would you reccommend I do it all(headers, downpipe & exhaust) at once. I apologize if someone already asked this, but thanks

BwoyWonda, Welcome to the forum! This question has been asked quite a few times and you might be able to find a little more info by using the search tab at the top of the site. But its ok! I have an AEM short ram (there are others such as Injen and Weapon R) on my Accord and I love it. Power wise...maybe a 1 hp or so but it sounds incredible and seems to run a smidge smoother. I chose AEM because its name brand, I know its going to fit, the filter quality is great and it has a special rubber mount unlike no name intakes that helps support it. Your future mods are the same as mine! I've got OBX headers waiting to be installed and an Apexi cat back exhaust coming. For the headers and exhaust....try to stick with the brand name as well. I know that a few people have had trouble with the 80 dollar headers where they beging to rust, lose performance, or the O2 sensor gets stuck in there. OBX seems to have quality products with resonable prices but there are better prducts out there. DC Sports and Comptech make some really good headers but they are 300-400 dollars as where my OBX were 177. Good luck and feel free to ask anyone questions on here!

I forgot to mention, I would recommend installing the headers and exhaust at once because your taking almost everything off, so you might as well take it off once instead of twice. Just make sure you spray some WD-40 or liquid wrench on the bolts to loosen them up before you install everything.
i would definately recomend an aem short ram. I installed one on my 96 2.2l last week. Its a simple and quick install with a mean sound past about 2800 rpm. It probably doesnt add too much power about 1 hp gain as stated above is likely correct. Buy it for the great sound and new look under the hood. It probaly works better though with a good after market exhaust and header. Injen and aem are both great companies either way you wont be dissappointed.
if you want the best of both worlds from shortrams and cold air intakes, I'd recommend the AEM V2. I had one and used it for 2 years (before I went turbo). Mean sound and some very nice gains.
Just some reassurance I guess, but I like that your going with name brands. I have an AEM SRI on my car and I couldn't be happier with it. I still like to give the car some gas just so I can hear it, and I've had it for about 5 months or so. It also comes with a dryflow filter, which is really nice (don't have to oil it). The filter does matter a bit, here is a link to a good thread to help you decide on one: https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/m_18335/tm.htm. Injen also makes good products, so if you go that route you won't be disappointed either.
As mbo said, the AEM V2 is arguably the best cold air intake out there. It does cost quite a bit though, so it depends on whether you think the cost justifies the gains. Personally, I might just save that extra money to contribute to a nice exhaust and header.
As for exhaust, all I can speak of from experience is the Apexi WSII, which I am very pleased with. For the header I would probably go with DC Sport, or if your willing to fork it out, the Comptech is a bit better (but a good bit more expensive). As far as stainless steel or ceramic, theres plenty of opinions out there about each.

Thanks for all the info everybody, I held off on the intake for now , and I think Im just gonna do everything at the same time (exhaust, headers, and SRI...) Im probably gonna wait until either the end of this month or next month to do it, but once I do it Ill let yall know how everything works out......
come to the realization that the 30 dollar ebay shorty is gonna be the best thing that you will ever buy for your car. just watch it bring the low end of your powerband to life.
