Default Still No Answer

Well, I've asked a local muffler shop owner to kind of check around to see if he knew of anyone who has tried turbo mufflers on an '05 Accord Hybrid 3.0, and he has yet to find out anything. He said he would check some more.

I guess there are few cars of this type and year on the road, so few, no one knows the answer to my search. If any of the few out there have tried this, I will probably never know if they had an improvement or not.

Time to give up I guess...

I may have to do that, g22cd5! I could be a trail blazer, and exhaust test pioneer! Scientists never know answers til they experiment!

Good suggestion- Thanks!

I expect it to be a lot like a non-hybrid V-6 Accord of the same generation (2003-2006). But I don't actually know firsthand.

Thanks Jim. I still haven't got nerve to try it. If it messes up the performance, I'm probably stuck. It's having a hard enough time performing good at all in this Texas heat. I've posted about this before both here and on another Honda forum I used to be on, but this is one "weather-moody" car. Lately, it feels like about 1/3 of the power isn't there. In winter, it runs like a souped V-8. I sometimes wonder if the climate in Japan is cold where they started Hondas, and they are built to run best in cold weather.

I've had the car checked time after time, and they never can find why it is this way.

In this heat & humidity the AC is probably sucking a lot of power. That would be noticable in most cars. If you can tolerate this as a test, turn it off to see if that makes a difference.

I usually DO NOT recommend using higher-octane fuel, above what the owner's manual says. But the high temperatures might just get you there. Try a tank of the next-higher gas just to see if it makes any difference.

It probably is reacting to the heat and humidity. Yesterday, it was running like a scared ape again. It will after the fuel gets down to around 3/4 of a tank, most of the time.

I'm using Shell 89. For a long time, the 91 octane was great on this car, but after it got more broken in, it seemed to not be as good as the 89. It's been a long time since I tried 91 V-Power, so I might again. It's in the shop all this week getting some body work done. Thanks, Jim.

Youtube.com holds some footage of this I believe. Also you can check v6p.net IIRC it's been done.
