just bought my 1st car a used 1998 accord LX sedan 134k miles 4cylinder. joined the forum to learn more stuff about cars, just know how to drive maintenance and other stuff I have no idea. will start reading the manual tonight.

 

Welcome to the forum. One thing to look out for on those cars is the automatic transmission, they have a tendency to well...........break.

 

how do i prevent that kind of problem?

 

Sadly it is kind of unpreventable, you should keep up with the scheduled transmission flushes; but even this can't guarantee a long life.

There have been some horror stories of people with 98-02s having to replace the automatic transmission 3 or 4 times. There was a class action law suit against Honda over it.
