Speaking of a Subaru, it was in the running, as we have owned three in the distant past with great success, but the CVT worries me. All were manual transmissions. Would love to have their sweet H6 engine, but not exactly thrifty with fuel.

Wisconsin here.
Ah yes, the trusty winter truck. Additional vehicle is not in the budget yet, so winter/all weather tires will be purchased for the accord at the first opportunity.
The subrau was a great winter car and a great car in general. I will miss it but happy with the much better MPG on the hybrid.

Nissan also had grief.
We didn't have any issue with the CRV, had it 4 years and 70k miles. It was AWD and never had any problems. We had a Saturn VUE cvt and this one was much better. My 13 Accord is a CVT also, not quite the smooth seemless running after 80k miles, but not bad. I change the trans oil at about 40k miles, I think i need to service again.

they just called and said the accord in modern steel metallic has come in but also mentioned mandarin orange gold one came in with it. Any comments or thoughts on that color? It's a nice, complicated color that will be spotted easily but it could get old and tired after a while.

We have the Modern Steel Metallic with Ivory interior. Would have to see the Mandarin Gold on a car to decide if it were for us. I'm old (75) and on the conservative side when it comes to colors.
