Default 97 sedan 2.7 v6

Just got this nice 97 sedan 2.7 liter 260,000 miles, for my girl and it seems to have a horrible oil leak coming off the oil filter. It's really clean around the connection for the filter so I assume it's coming from above where it connects to the engine. Anyone else have this issue. Other than a few door handles need replacing and other small stuff it's really nice.

Welcome to the forum

Perhaps the oil stand gasket? You may have to take the oil filter off to see it and there are bolts holding it to the block. You need to be scrupulously clean about replacing the gasket and use a thin sealer (not silicone) for a paper gasket, and no sealer at all if there's a rubber O-ring.... or so I've been told.

Hope this helps

I'm going to go with this is a 97 (title say another, yet engine suggests/supports the text).

With that said.....the oil pressure switch is where I would start inspection, #16 in the pic.

Next would be the o-ring seal - #31 in pic

Another poster just last day or so had a severe leak from the oil filter base where it fits to oil pump cover. An oring was baked hard and leaking. This base is the fitting that filter screws down onto.

good luck
