Default 97 accord v6 oil filter housing

Ok so my new 97 accord v6 2.7 auto 4 door is nice. But it's spewing oil from the oil pump housing where it attaches to the engine. Anything I need to know when replacing this? I hear it's a figure 8 gasket.thanks for any help.

Are you sure it's not leaking from the oil filter/VTEC solenoid housing attachment to the block? There is a oring seal between this fitting and oil pump housing.

I looked at a 98 Accord shop manual which is likely similar to yours. Oil pump housing removal requires removal of timing belt assy, Vtec/Oil Filter housing, and oil pan.

A Honda shop manual is recommended.

good luck

The leak is usually due to the o-ring between the oil filter housing and oil pump, not usually the oil seal between the oil pump and engine block. Therefore, if it is due to the oil ring related to the oil filter housing, then there is no need to remove timing belt, etc.

Check for disconnected or damaged grounds.

Do you have power to the dash? If yes, check for start signal on small blk/wht wire to the starter.

good luck
