Default '99 Accord EX 4DR; What's up

I found this site just surfing around, finaly a place to compare stories and problems. I see that I'm not the only one with seat belt retraction problems 98-02. Why hasn't there been some kind of Recall. Obviously this is widespread problem. My car is pretty stock, except I replaced the stock single disc CD player with a '02 six disc in dash (much better). I also installed AEM's V2 cold air intake which I think is very over-hiped. I have seen a minimal increase in power and no increase in MPG, though it does sound good a annoying whistle is apparent when the throttle is slightly deppressed. No, it's not caused by a dirty throttle body I checked that. I installed a the OEM wing. I just got a DCM stainless header which is supposed to be good for 8-10 HP, but we'll see. I have a Optima dry-cell battery which is worth every dime, it never goes dead and cars run better because they deliver consistant current. I do all my own work and just replaced the timing belt, balance shaft belt, accessary belts, and all the brakes (Brembo cross-drilled rotors). I just hit 103,000 and I couldn't be happier with this car.

Yeah! I dig it... Welcome to the forum, I'm pretty new here myself.... I found the same issue with my V2 and also that you can't get a fricken bypass valve for it which means that if you're missing the fender well skirt and you drive down a slushy road it packs in around the air filter and chokes off the engine, kills it, sucks water in and blows your rings... but if your exhaust/cat is good you won't notice it for a bit because it won't burn the oil...Not that it happened to me or anything.... *cough, cough* last year *cough cough*

Hi Mike, Welcome to the forums...
I see you just broke in your ride with it's 103,000. I'm shooting at 118,000 plus and it doesn't even tick a little..
Great Motors...

i got 132,000 on my Accord and she's still purrin' like a kitten. ya man, cold air intakes are no good, even from a performance aspect, look at it this way, a cold air pipe is around 5-6 feet in length. the engine has to pull the air through a 3-4in pipe at high velocity. Its kinda like you taking a straw, covering one end 1/2 way w/ ur finger and trying to suck in air. Short rams are about 2-3 inches long and the engine doesnt have to work harder to pull that air in. Short rams give you a little more hp than a cold air and a lot more responsivness. My brother had cold air intake on his 01 Integra LS. His engine wasnt that responsive and he heard this rumor. So we hacked his cold air more than half and stuck the filter on, BAM!!! This made a huge difference in power and responsivness.
