Hi folks. I have a 1987 Accord LX that has been a fantastic car. I guess I had always planned to give it to my daughter who is now 16 and is soon to get her drivers license. However, as I start to realize the possibility of her driving around and am aware that the car has no air bag for protection, suddenly I am second guessing the decision. It has been rebuilt mechanically so despite the 165k miles, I am fairly confident it has another 100k w/o much work.

So...my question is this...is there a way to reasonably do an airbag conversion or update so my baby will have this original owner car and still be safe? Great milage and a car like this (original owner...mechanically sound...PAID FOR ALREADY) is a rare find these days and I would hate to have to go buy sombody else's car when this is in the driveway now. But safety is serious stuff and airbags seem like a big issue when a teenager is just getting going.
