Default Checkmate Remote on Recently Purchased '99 Accord

I was fortunate enough to find a 1999 Accord with only 55K miles on it. I purchased it from an elderly man who was not able to drive anymore. Anyway, I absolutely LOVE the car...my first HONDA. The handeling is awesome...for its age anyway.

The car came with two remotes (Checkmate). They lock and unlock the doors while flashing the parking lights. But thats all I can do with it. I've done a lot of research online and cannot find any info for this aftermarket alarm. I was just wondering what the other buttons do, if they can be reprogrammed, etc. I would imagine the horn should honk or the trunk would open, but I get nothing when I press them...just the light blinks.

There is a valet button that he showed me, but didnt really know anything else about the alarm. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Google will locate a meager amount of information on this system. Check WikiHow for 'Reset Aftermarket (Checkmate)".

Brand is no longer available and not much good was said about it.

good luck

We had a 98 EX that had a factory alarm. Did the LX have the factory alarm too?

TexasHonda: Thanks, I'll give that a shot.

JimBlake: I'm really not sure. The gentleman I purchased it from said it was factory, however I'm thinking that the dealer installed it when he purchased the car new.
