Howdy, my name is Gabriel and I was done driving after a long day and took and inspection of my car and found this little spring thingy, just sorta there. I was wondering what it was and if it’s important.

 

Virtually all parts of a car are important. Regarding your specific car, no freakin' clue. Why? Because we have no idea what kind of a car you drive.

That looks like the hold-down latch for the hood, but it looks too big for your car. The broken plastic stuff doesn't look at all correct. It looks too tall, like it came from a full-size pickup truck. Where exactly did you find it on your car?

Just to check, open your hood and make sure it latches down properly.
