Default Hello there!

Hi

I'm new to the forum and the Honda community at large. I purchased a 2015 Honda Accord Coupe EX-L V6 w/ manual transmission this past Friday after driving a Mazda for about 8 years. Prior to that, a Toyota Corolla. Being an adamant manual transmission enthusiast, it's become increasingly difficult to find a vehicle at a reasonable price that offers both value and a manual transmission option. For me, that search has come to an end with this purchase. I'm extremely satisfied with the outcome.

To be completely honest, I actually used to be one of the types of people that would cast irrational disparagement on Honda and its owners for no reason than its popularity amongst the "Fast and Furious" set more prominent in the '00s. I regret that ignorant position years ago since I may have been better served buying one at that time than throwing shade like a one-legged, foul-mouthed drunken leprechaun in an a** kicking contest.

Thanks for having me.

Hi,

Can't agree with you more about manuals. The Accord has one of the nicer ones too. I wish my Corvair had a manual. The 2 speed Powerglide is very durable, and shifts as smooth as any transmission, but it's two speeds! Light throttle, it shifts into second (high) at about 12 mph. Pick a gear on your manual that works at 12 mph and don't shift again, and go 75 mph!

The reason I picked and Accord was my '11 Fiesta was the car from h*** from a reliability standpoint. I had enough, actually more than enough. I wanted a reliable car, no chances, one with a bullet proof reputation. Looked at the Civic, was surprised to find out the Accord had a manual available too. Priced it, and it was less than what I though a Civic would cost! Here's the most surprising part, it gets at worst, 10 % less mpg than the slow Fiesta!

I like the Poweglide in the Chevelle . I had to get the input shaft from a TH350 because I would snap the OE input shaft....I got pretty good at pulling the trans out before that as I snapped it around 4 or 5 times.

The best part of this story is my girlfriend, at the time, would help me change out the trans/input shaft.....well we've been married for over 26 years now

Sorry OP for going off topic. I'm a fan of 3 pedals myself yet I think I about to go with another auto . There is a 2014 TL SH AWD at Carmax for sale with ~5K miles on it - the only thing I don't like about it is the color - outside is Black, I just think black is hard to keep clean.
