Hi everyone
I just bought a 1980 Accord and I love it. About 20 years ago my parents had 3 1st gen Hondas, 2 civics and an accord. They ran forever.
Mine is a four door sedan, automatic transmission. The odo say 87,900 and the guy who sold me the car claims his father only drove it 2-3 times a week for the last 20 years. I'm not sure I believe that, the engine looks like it has more miles on it than that. But with a 5 digit odo, it's hard to tell the real mileage.
Engine sounds good, but has a problem idling and dies a lot. It's a problem I need to fix ASAP and I will detail it in a different post. Paint is faded, front seat upholstery is shot, and some of the body trim is broken or missing. There is a little dent in the right front quarterpanel, looks like someone tried to fix it but didn't complete the job.
Overall, it's a great little car that can be revived with minimal effort. Assuming my engine problem is minor.
I'm a DIY mechanic, so I'll be on the forums a lot. Thanks everyone for contributing so much information and I hope someone out there know 1st gen Accords like the back of their hand.

RE: Hi everyone
Welcome carboy!!! Even though you have the only 1st gen on here, there are plenty of very knowlegable people here for most systems in the car. I'm sure that HAF can help you work out all of the bugs and even improve the cars systems. It's always great when this online community gains another gearhead!!! I know that there are att least 20-25 of us here!!!!

RE: Hi everyone
Welcome. Pretty cool you are the only 1st gen on here. There are a few Honda Tech's on here that will probably know a good bit about your car. Just post your problems(one thread at a time) and we will try to help as best we can.

RE: Hi everyone
Yeah, we had a 1981 four door sedan. It was green. I believe that generation only came in 3 colors and they were green, blue, and orange. It was a great little car. The body was what ended up being the achilles heel. What color is your car?
