Default Just bought 2003 Accord...

So this will be the first honda i have ever owned.. and so far im very impressed!, I had a few questions..

1.) Car currently has 85,000k miles, runs great however i have no idea what has or has not been replaced on it, i know the timing belt must be done, but at what milage? also how hard is it to do this at home? does motor have to be pulled?

2.) Anything else that would need to be replaced/checked ? tranny fluid looks like it was changed recently.. but i might just do it again for piece of mind, how hard it changing the fluid at home?

3.) Regular gas is recommend.. but i have had poeple tell me that with preimum you can expect some small HP gains?

4.) Thinking about Pennzoil full synethic for oil? thoughts?

5.) Anything else i should know?

Thanks for advise and sorry for spelling errors..

Congrats and welcome.

1. Have the dealership check for recalls and TSB's that were done or not done on the car. Belts are on the V6, chain on the 4 cyl. Please add car info to your signature for future reference. I wouldn't recommend a DIY timing belt change.

2. Check everything. Belts, fluids, wheel play, etc.

3. Regular is right. Premium will make your wallet lighter for better pick-up, but that's about it. The engine will actually make a bit less power with high octane.

4. Read up on oil on bobistheoilguy.com dino is fine for most drivers for 5000 miles, synthetic is better and will last longer. For extended oil changes, 7500+ miles, oil analysis is recommended. For turbo engines, synthetic only because it's less prone to cooking in the turbo when you cut off the motor.

5. Everything else is here, but the site's search doesn't work. Use the one in my signature.

Yeah, WELCOME.

V-6 has a belt that needs to be replaced at 90k or 105k miles (forget which). The 4-cyl has a chain that does not get replaced on aregular schedule.

The owners manual says 10k miles for oil changes. I was scared to go that long, so I usually went 7k (petroleum oil). I finally had ananalysis done, it said I could have gone longer. YMMV...
