my 1997 accord
Hi-1st time posting-i love my 97 accord has 168,000 miles-and is well taken care of, just recently it's been one problem after another-abs brake system has been out for 2 years-now drivers side power window is broke-my hubby wanted me to get rid of it years ago-now that window broke, i can't even tell him as it just got clutch slave cylynder changed 2nd time in 2 years--i need an outside opinion--i think fixing it is cheeper than buying a new car in this crappy economy--car looks great & runs great-just one little thing after the next recently!! Any one else out there with there abs break system out---my local honda dealership is the one who said system is out (not just a sensor) they also said it was not worth fixing thanks!!

welcome enjoy your stay.
Most ppl just delete ABS all 2geather when they have prob.s not worth the money to fix...also not a noticeable difference when breaking either.
*edit* you can also unplug the ABS box in the car and the ABS light on your dash will go out

I got rid of my ABS as well, mainly because I race my accord and its a ton of added weight. I wouldn't worry about replacing it, the system new from the dealership is $1,000 or so. Used they arent cheap either.
As long as the car is still running I would keep it, and if the repairs are $200-300 max I would keep it and fix it. But when a repair comes up that is going to cost $800 or more I would consider getting rid of it.
Also you mentioned a dealership, I wouldn't get it fixed at the dealership. Yes they do do good work, but their prices are insane. I know my local dealership charges $100/hr for labor where regular shops are $50-60 an hour. Just find a local shop you can trust.
