Default new accord owner

just finalized the purchase of a 96 accord coupe. can anybody provide some direction as far as reading materials and parts catalogs/sites references?

there are various cosmetic issues that don't bother me too much, but the two big functional issues are the lack of an exhaust system (pipe and muffler are nonexistent) and what seems to be an oil leak. i guess i'm going to have to learn how to troubleshoot the leak.

i won't be driving the car daily, it was a very inexpensive purchase so that i can get to school 2-3 days per week, but i would like to spend some time to learn how to take care of this thing.

any wisdom is much appreciated.

Welcome aboard.

Hondaautomotiveparts.com sells all oem parts online.

Rockauto.com is a good source for parts.

Car-part.com is a good place to find used parts.

hey, thanks for the welcome and links. i've bookmarked them. i've never worked on a vehicle, but i've found some manuals for the 96 accord. i'm also looking at buying this haynes manual unless i'm better off with something else?

I'd go with the Haynes. I had one for my mustang an it was the biggest help. That was my first car and I learned how to work on cars with that thing and without that manual I would've been completely lost.

The Honda service manual is better. In the General Tech Help section sticky, "Common DIY and Info. Thread", there is a link to download the manual.

thanks again for the information. there is a lot of information to parse through! i'm having the exhaust system put on this thing and then going to see how long i can drive it. the oil leak seems a little sketchy, but everybody i've talked to says that if i keep it topped off it should be okay.

a little sad that i have to put the muffler on. it's been kind of fun to shatter every window i drive by.
