Default New to the forum

Hey guys, just joined the forum today. Ive owned my 05 honda accord ex 4dr V-6 for about 3.5 years. I purchased the car with 16000 miles on it, it now has 104,000. needless to say we take the car everywhere we go. The only thing ive ever had to do to the car up to the 100000 mile mark was change the oil, put one set of brakes and rotors on the car. Tires obviously. This car has been great!! At 100,000 miles I did the whole maintenance package, timingbelt, waterpump, radiator, plugs and wires, tranny, drive belt. Right before that I had noticed when the car was cold(just starting up) I would hear valve train chatter until it warms up then it goes away. Now since I bought the car Ive used lucas oil stabilizer as an additive along with the regular 5-20 valvoline oil. Since the car hit 90,000 miles I started using the max life synthetic with the lucas oil additive(overkill?) Im just curious if I have a problem starting to rear its ugly head here, I want to give this car to my daughter in a year and a half for her first car and will definetly be purchasing a new accord with the way this car has treated me. Any insight from anyone would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks for your time.

During that whole 100k maintenance, did you adjust the valve lash?

I had a guy who was a honda mechanic do the 100k tuneup. He does it on the side out of his garage, now I dont know if he did that or not but I will definetly call him and ask him. Thanks!

No sweat if he didn't - it's easy to do it NOW. The only duplicate work is opening the valve covers again & that's easy.

Its kind of weird because it makes that the chattering sound for about 2 mins then once it warms up the chattering goes away. And it doesnt do it again unless the car has been turned off for about 8 hrs or so.

It can do slow gradual damage, so get it done but don't panic. I can't hear it from here, but since it quiets down as the engine warms up it must not be very bad. That kind of sound has always been common with Honda, but again I can't hear it from here.
