Your Dad should take your phone away then you can shift all you want by paying attention to your driving ..

In my opinion everyone should know how to drive a manual. So why not learn with your first car.

But once again I have never heard of any study regarding the safety of a manual transmisson

I disagree. There are too many retards on the road. Sure I think that people should know how to drive a manual as well, but not for a first car. Learn to drive, then re-learn how to drive, then learn manual.

Nah. I taught both my daughters to drive manuals. We didnt evenown an automatic when the first one was learning. The 2nd one wanted the auto so bad, but I made her learn in my GSR. Couple years later there was this kid (she had the hots for him...) He got himself a car & gave her a ride around the block. She was trying so hard to NOT laugh because he couldnt use the clutch properly...

Alright well thanks everyone for the input. I have a few convincing factors to lay out. 1: I won't get bored in stop and go because it will be so naturally to me after awhile (with use of everyone's posts) 2: It gets better gas 3: If my car breaks down I don't need to stop and ask for a stranger to jump my car haha. So hopefully between my mom and I, we will convince him. I might be going car shopping this weekend but I'm not sure yet, I will update you guys if anything new happens
