Talking The New Guy

Aright, I have been looking for information about Honda Accords because Wednesday I got my first one.

1993 Honda Accord LX White/Blue.
287,000 Miles
Complete Oil, Tire and Repair History
1 Owner
Runs/Drives like it was brand new.
Synthetic oil since first 600 mile oil change.
Immaculate Interior.

My name is Tracy (male).

Hopefully I can get the information I need here.

I will post pictures as soon as I take some.

Tracy-

This has to be a first...I joined the forum today, and your thread is the first I have read. I also bought my first Honda on Monday. Mine is a silver with burgundy interior 1993 Accord LX/225,000 miles. It also runs like a swiss watch and gets great mileage ( 26 MPG in town) I don't have much input on the car just yet, but I know that the auto tranny is known to be a bit on the clunky side. Mine shifts fine, just not the same as my Toyota did. I can feel good about the car as I got an awesome deal ($1500). New BFG tires, new complete brakes fr/rr, timing belt, water pump, new radiator,02 sensor,alarm/remote keyless entry and more.

Cheers

I forgot to mention that mine is a 5 speed, Power Windows, Mirrors, Locks, Steering, Brakes, A/C, has a couple dings on the outside (one daughter ran into the other daughter's car in the driveway). Paint is eggshell, brand new tires, new timing belt 20k miles ago, new suspension, needs a new clutch in the near future. Mechanic friend of mine says (by description of an exhaust sound) that the resonator might be bad/going bad. Rear deck speakers are dead, replacing them tomorrow. Not customizing, pretty much just putting my old Kenwood KDC-X579 head unit in it with my old Kenwood dual-cone 6.5s in the rear. Factory front speakers seem fine (minor buzzing). All in all, great car for the $1000 paid for it.

Yeah, the factory audio was out of order in a big way in mine as well. I junked the Honda factory am/fm/cassette and rear deck speakers (They litererally disintegrated and had no sound) I put in a Sony cd/mp3 with a front aux in for the Sandisk, and installed new Sony XPLODE 6.5" 4 way coaxials in the rear deck. It was a true test of my patience as this is a very small working area and I am a big guy...6'3" 245#. Nice to have some tunes again !!

I have a 400W Power inverter with 2 AC / 1 USB power plug, currently running it off the cigarette lighter at 150W. Will eventually drill through the firewall and hook it up directly to the battery. One thing at a time. I just drove it all over. So far driven 70 miles and it's still on Full. I absolutely love the car. Went to a stereo store and looked at 4x 6.5s from Kenwood for $90/pair. Will be my next upgrade. Need to fix the driver's side corner light $26.08 @ Auto Parts Warehouse (.com). Clutch is slipping a little, so that will need to be fixed in the next couple months.

Took it to my favorite mechanic and he looked at all the fluids, engine, did a quick walk-around, said I made a great buy. He reset the maintenance indicator and said, "come see me at the end of August" and he didn't charge me.

Update. I have since gotten the corner light fixed, new muffler from AutoPartsWarehouse ($62.50). Still haven't gotten new speakers for it, but payday is this Friday, I might just take care of that. Clutch is still not fixed. Honda quoted at $1081 for clutch. Clutch & Brake Doctors quoted at $581 with 12 year warranty on parts and labor, just need to come up with the funds.
