Hi, I'm looking forward to using this forum to help from time to time on my 2011 Accord 3.5L and to learn new things from the group. I bought my Accord in July of 2011 and now have 115,000 mile on it...it still running like a top. I haven't had to replace the breaks yet and my stock tires lasted to 92,000 miles before I replaced them with Michelin Defenders (90K tires). I am a road warrior and typically put 225,000+ miles (~90% highway miles) on a car in 4 years (55 to 60K miles per year). I am very maintenance conscientious...I have to be to make my vehicle last for 4+ years. Anyway, thanks in advance, for your help and comments.

Welcome to HAF.
I was wondering how you got that many miles in two years.....wow.
At 115k, you are about due for a timing belt change. If it is an auto trans, I'd also suggest a drain and fill of the trans with Honda Trans fluid......if a manual I would also change the MTF.
Thanks for joining

Why would you recommend Honda brand trans fluid over a non-Honda brand?
Did the timing belt change at 110k and trans flush at 60K. The original timing belt was actually in very good shape; the serpentine belt had a few cracks and I replaced the water pump. I broke the water pump apart and the bearings were in great shape. I had a 2007 Honda pilot before the Accord that I ran for 4 years...racked-up 230K on that one. I replaced the timing belt at 150k and the plugs at 100k.
I'll be replacing the plugs on my '11 Accord at 125k and will do another transmission flush at 120k. Thanks for your comments.

Part of the Honda trans fluid is personal pref......the other part is that I have read way too many posts where non-honda fluid was used and there are/were issues....cold shift issues, ect.
Not wanting to start a debate on the trans fluid but againmy pref and from some of the stories I have seen/read.

ATF & power steering fluid are the 2 places where Honda fluid is legitimately "special". Different mix of friction-modifiers or some kinda magic recipe.
Yes the owner's manual for nearly any car says to use the OEM-brand of fluid. But the other stuff (engine oil, brake fluid) isn't really different.
