Im new and I am Joel. I live in Georgia and bought a 1997 Honda Accord with a few problems, very cheaply and have been reading this forum for a while for help with my car. Through this forum I have gotten information that has made a sick Honda, well again. The car had a minor head gasket leak and ended up having a cross threaded spark plug hole. I ended up using a product that I read about to fix the head gasket leak (a mechanic removed the plugs and showed me that water was very slowly dripping into two cylinders) which was very successful in stopping the leak. It was causing the car to be almost impossible to start after shutting it off after running for any length of time. As long as I didn't shut it off everything was fine, but who likes that? After I fixed that, I had a mechanic look at it to check it again and found no leaks and it started anytime just fine after that. Then upon putting back the plugs, one of them cross threaded. Upon starting the car, it was intermittenly missing and the check engine light was now on. I again scoured the Honda Forum and ended up getting a spark plug repair kit to fix it. I followed the directions to the letter and it worked wonderfully. Now my car is purring like a kitten. Love the little booger for gas mileage to work, since I drive twenty miles to, and twenty miles from work to home. I wanted to share a success story with you guys and also give someone else the courage to try some do it your selfers on their own car. I also listed my spark plug kit for resale to anyone here who might have the same problem with their Accord. If so, me and that person can benefit equally with a fixed car and a great savings! The kit was pretty expensive, to me anyway. Look forward to having a good place to learn about any future problems with my car.
